This is the quintessential English murder mystery. With all the requisite quirky characters,a manor house, and countryside with a delightful twist. Without giving too much up, the author has put a mystery within a mystery to keep the reader guessing until the very last page. Written by the author of Masterpiece Mysteries “Foyles War” and Midsomer Murders, Mr Horowitz delivers a mystery guaranteed to surprise and delight until the very end.

News of the World by Paulette Jiles is among my favorite books. Set after the Civil War in the Texas Oklahoma Territory,it tells the story of a news reader who travels Texas sharing the latest news stories and a 10 year old girl he is charged with returning to her family in South Texas after being a captive of the Kiowa Indians for the past four years.
A beautifully written narrative that is both uplifting and hopeful.

This little book is among my absolute favorites. It presumes the Queen and her corgis happen onto a Mobile Library Van at the gates of Buckingham Palace and she is transformed into a reader. The situations that ensue are treated with humor and dry English wit that will delight and entertain you and perhaps give you a needed lift!
